Behind the Lens

Hey there. I am Alisha. I am a homemaker, writer and photographer learning, living and capturing life as it happens with words and photos. I am walking the path alongside my husband and five kids.

Have you ever wanted to open a strangers door just to see what's on the other side?
Doorways intrigue me. Some are ornate, some weathered, but all stand like portals holding unseen stories — the families that gather, the dinners, the ordinary routines of life.
It’s the same with people. Portraits, like doorways, remind us of the soul that lives within. You don’t have to be polished to be worthy of remembering.
Let’s preserve your season of life now, before the holidays sweep us away.

The art of noticing is a practice.
It’s the little things that make a moment unforgettable.
The open window, the curtain leaning just so, the design etched into the building across the way, the hum of Paris waking outside.
For me, this view held even more. It was the morning of our 20th anniversary — the dream I had whispered for years: to wake up in Paris with my husband on that day. And here it was.
Simple, beautiful, unforgettable.

There is so much story in portrait.

It hangs in my mom's living room right next to the last portrait of my step-dad who passed away suddenly 3 weeks before this photo was taken. I can still tell you where we were and the depths of emotions some of us carried that day. We weren't dressed for a 'fancy' photo, but were packing up to leave after a weekend surrounded by love, community and breathtaking nature, and one another.
That's why this portrait lives on her wall.
Every day she can look at her family and remember how deeply loved she is, even when we can't be with her all the time.
Love the ones around you. Document the moments. Please don't let them stay trapped in the cloud. Print them. Hang them. Cherish them.

How can I help you create the same lasting reminder for your family?

🎓✨ Senior year only happens once… and it flies by faster than you think.
Between last first days, Friday nights, and college applications, this year is a series of moments you’ll never get back. These photos aren’t just for announcements or the yearbook — they’re for you (and your family) to remember who you are right now, on the edge of what’s next.
📸 Let’s create senior portraits that feel like you — authentic, timeless, and worth holding onto.

My life has felt like a series of shorts, a sequence of vignettes strung together.
So many moments could be described as momentous events that made me who I am, but what if the most meaningful parts of the story aren’t the milestones, but the little in-between moments that no one else sees?
Life is a series of moments we will never get back. All we will ever have is today.

Family isn’t always loud.
Sometimes it’s quiet hands, soft glances, ordinary moments that hold everything.
I’ve raised kids across borders—Panama, Ireland, and everywhere in between.
What I’ve learned is this:
Family is made in the in-between.
These are the moments I photograph.
Not staged. Not perfect.
Just real, and full of love.
On this International Family Day—
here’s to honoring the now, before it’s gone.
